Concordia St. Paul COVID-19 Travel Policies
Concordia University, St. Paul has made the decision to require that students participating in any of our 2021-2022 study away/abroad programs be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccine prior to departure. There were many factors considered before implementing this policy, many of which are listed below:

  1. Reduced risk of denied entry if a country requires vaccination for entry.
  2. Reduced risk of needing to quarantine upon arrival.
  3. Reduced risk of spreading COVID-19 and its variants to other parts of the world.
  4. Reduced risk of contracting COVID-19 while abroad, which could lead to missed classes and excursions, mandatory quarantine or isolation, and other disruptions to the program that would be incurred at the student’s personal expense.
  5. Increases student access to local events, services, and travel while abroad.
  6. Gives CSP more flexibility in planning excursions and allows all participants to participate together as a group because everyone is vaccinated.
The WHO and US CDC agree that the vaccine helps reduce the risk of serious illness and helps prevent the spread of COVID-19. Alongside our other prevention measures, the vaccine significantly increases protection for CSP students, faculty, and staff. We understand that some students may not be vaccinated due to a religious belief or a medical condition, in which case a petition to request an exemption may be submitted to abroad@csp.edu.  Requests for exemptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and medical exemption requests require documentation from a doctor. Participants granted an exemption will be subject to additional testing requirements and may have programming modifications on-site as many activities are only open to vaccinated travelers.

As always, CSP’s primary objective is to keep our students safe and supported, and as such, we will continue to monitor the entry restrictions and communicate any new testing or quarantine requirements that may become necessary.
