Scholarships specifically for Study Abroad students are available
through a number of organizations.

Steps to a successful scholarship application:
  1. Review scholarship requirements, application process, and deadlines.
  2. Begin application process. Not sure where to get started? Work with either your study abroad advisor or the Concordia Writing Center to brainstorm ideas!
  3. Review tips for writing scholarship essays.
  4. Schedule an in person appointment to get your scholarship application reviewed by the Concordia Writing Center

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, ST. PAUL SCHOLARSHIPS
 
There is one application form for all Concordia University, St. Paul Study Abroad Scholarships. Submit the application form along with an essay and statement of financial need to the CALL Center (Meyer Hall 115) or email attachments as a PDF to abroad@csp.edu. Application will be available Spring Semeter. 
 
Scholarship Application 2023 - Do Han Mi Scholarship 
The Dorow family donated to Concordia St. Paul to establish a Korean scholarship for students interested in 
studying for a semester or year on our Soon Chun Hyang Univeristy Exchange Program.

Terms: Fall, Spring, or Academic Year 2023-2024
Amount: $1,000
Requirements: Applicants must be a current undergraduate student going on the semester or year-long 
Soon Chun Hyang University Exchange Program and students must demonstrate unmet financial need.

Gilman Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship awards up to $5,000 to students who study abroad on a semester-long program. 
The aim is to broaden the student population that studies abroad by supporting undergraduates who have 
been traditionally under-represented in the U.S. study abroad.

Requirements: Applicants must be recipients of the Pell Grant and have high financial need.

Boren Awards for International Study
Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study in regions of the world critical
to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad: Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, 
Latin America, and the Middle East.

Requirements: Applicants must be going to a program in one of the listed areas.

Fund for Education Abroad
FEA provides grants and scholarships to students who participate in high-quality, rigorous 
education abroad programs. Students must plan to study abroad a minimum of 4 weeks.

Requirements: Applicants must be going on a program who know its academic rigor and immersion elements.

Freeman-ASIA
Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students
with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.

Requirements: Applicants must currently receive need-based financial aid and go on a program in East 
or South East Asia.

Study Abroad in Japan: Bridging Scholarships
Japan Bridging Foundation awards scholarships to U.S. undergraduate students for one semester or academic year in Japan.

Requirements: Undergraduate students majoring in any field of student and studying in Japan for at least 3 months.
